The Intersection New Music Collective was founded in 2008 by composer B. P. Herrington at Sam Houston State University. Intersection began as a student ensemble at Sam Houston State University and soon developed into a wide collective of composers and musicians in the Houston area.
In its short history, Intersection New Music Collective has performed and presented concerts at the Region VI Society of Composers (2008), the Moores School of Music at the University of Houston (2009, 2010), and the 49th Annual Contemporary Music Festival, Sam Houston State University (2009, 2010, 2011).
The student division of Intersection at Sam Houston State University (called The New Music Lab) is now solely devoted to works by SHSU student composers, as well as composers in the Intersection Young Composer Exchange.
