I currently offer lessons in piano, trumpet, and composition.
My teaching philosphy emphasizes solid technique, quality repertoire, music fundamentals (music theory, ear training), historical context, and creative improvisation.
Typical repertoire in my studio includes Bach (inventions, preludes/fugues, shorter works), sonatas and sonatinas by Clementi, Beethoven, Mozart and Haydn, and select works by composers such as Chopin, Debussy, Kabalevsky, Prokofiev, and Shostakovich.
On average, my intermediate students are taught theory concepts approximately equal to the studies of an undergraduate music major. My advanced students have been prepared to the level of Advanced Placement collegiate exams.
I offer lessons in my home, in students' homes, as well as at the Montgomery County Music Center. I am happy to adapt my approach depending on the student's needs. Please contact me via e-mail if you are interested.
